Designed by Eric Lyons for Span, Parkleys was completed in 1956. The scheme comprises 169 flats, 6 maisonettes, and 6 shops on an 8 acre site. Three storey block on a ‘H’ shaped plan. Expressive concrete lattice panels frame the glazed entrance. Alternate bands of glazing and hanging tile on other elevations. Modernist flat roof with brick stacks. Softwood framed pivot windows, with window boxes to accent the picturesque. The idiom is one of an anglicised version of Modernism.
